A week after our first visit, I found a sitter and ventured out to
Chapman’s Mill again with my husband. We explored the area, this time more in depth. I still think there are things out there that I hadn’t found on the first or second visit, though. This time I realized I could go inside the mill. We also found a cemetery! One of the coolest things we came across was an old house, probably from the 20s or 30s. It was super creepy! As our hike was winding down we happened to venture off the trail a bit and discovered an old car in a ditch! I think that the 1930s depression era home was a stronghold for making moonshine. The car in the ditch used to transport the moonshine to local speakeasies and was left in the ditch after a crazy car chase escaping from the local authorities. Either that, or I’ve watched too many movies.
